3CPG faculty member Angela Douglas and colleagues have collaborated with researchers from China's Zhejiang University to investigate the nature of the symbiosis between bacteria and the whitefly Bemisia tacaci. Because whiteflies are dependent on the symbiotic bacteria, future pest management techniques may target this bacteria and thus affect the whiteflies while sparing other insects and organisms.
